Get Smart about Smart Home Amenities

As a Property Manager (PM), your tenants are your number one priority. You want your renters to be happy so they’ll renew their leases and encourage prospective tenants to also lease. And, seeing as how more U.S. households are headed by renters for the first time since 1965, it is of the utmost importance to keep them happy. But how?
Well, it turns out that getting smart about smart home amenities may be the key.
new study by property management company Entrata revealed that renters value new and evolving smart home amenities like security cameras, including doorbell cameras and ceiling-mounted surveillance cameras, keyless entry with special codes for guests, smart thermostats, and a security system over traditional benefits like fitness centers, hot tubs and pools.
In fact, more than half of the residents surveyed (57 percent) said they would be willing to increase their rent payment by at least $20 per month to get the high-tech apartment they desire, and about one in four were willing to chip more than $30 per month.
“While pools and other creative community features have often been seen as the draw for prospective residents, the survey shows that what residents really value upon move-in, and are willing to pay for, are technology add-ons and amenities.” said Chase Harrington, president and chief operating officer of Entrata. “Shifting the focus of development, marketing, and training efforts to these technologies is going to be key for apartments as residents begin to demand living in a smart, connected environment.”
Overall, it seems that modern amenities are the secret to keeping renters happy. We couldn’t agree more.
At Parcel Pending, we offer the most technologically advanced lockers to simplify and secure the delivery and retrieval of packages for multifamily communities. As a tech savvy amenity, we make life easier for property managers, residents and couriers.
The way it works is simple. When a package arrives, it’s placed into a secure Parcel Pending locker. The recipient is then notified by text and/or email with a passcode to use when retrieving the package(s) privately and safely at any time.
Additionally, with our package delivery app, recipients can be notified when they have a delivery.  Recipients can then simply approach our locker systems with their smartphone, and the corresponding locker will automatically open.  There is no need to search thorough emails and text messages to find the code, nor is there a reason to type your code into the user interface. With our mobile application, smartphones can securely communicate with our systems and the locker containing the correct package will automatically open.
How’s that for a smart way to manage packages?
