Rerouting a package can feel confusing, particularly when every carrier does it differently. You might be going on holiday, or\u00a0you recently moved and forgot to provide the\u00a0correct\u00a0address\u00a0to the sender,\u00a0or maybe the sender has the incorrect address. Whatever the reason, here\u2019s how you can contact the major couriers to have your packages rerouted (in most cases).<\/p>\n

Whichever carrier you are expecting a package from, be sure to stay alert to potential scam emails\/texts from scammers who pretend to be couriers.<\/p>\n

4 Reasons to Reroute a Package<\/b><\/h2>\n

There are myriad reasons for needing to reroute a package <\/span>or conduct a <\/span>package intercept<\/span>. Here are the top four:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. You\u2019ve Moved<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 You thought you filled out all the correct forms and made the necessary delivery changes, but invariably a package delivery is en route to your old\u00a0shipping\u00a0address.<\/li>\n
  2. You\u2019ll Be Out of Town<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 With the freedom to travel luring us away, balancing shipping schedules with holidays is often challenging.<\/li>\n
  3. You Noticed a Scam<\/strong> \u2013 eBay, Poshmark, Etsy, and other users of central marketplaces sometimes recognise that they\u2019ve shipped an erroneous order before the money has cleared and need to suspend <\/span>it before <\/span>the carrier makes their <\/span>first <\/span>delivery <\/span>attempt<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n

    Thankfully, most major parcel carriers allow you to reroute a package to another address for delivery \u2013 provided you make the request online and the parcel hasn\u2019t been delivered yet. Here\u2019s a rundown on how each carrier deals with rerouting.<\/p>\n

    How To Reroute<\/b> a Package<\/b> From The Major Couriers:<\/b><\/h2>\n

    How to Reroute an Amazon Package<\/b><\/h3>\n

    To update the shipping address for an Amazon order that has not yet entered the shipping process, visit the \u201cYour Orders\u201d tab on Amazon.com or in the Amazon mobile app.<\/p>\n

    To change your order information:<\/p>\n

    1. Go to\u00a0Your Orders<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    2. Select the \u201cOrder Details\u201d link for the order you want to change.<\/li>\n
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      To update the delivery address for a third-party seller order that has not yet entered the shipping processes,\u00a0contact the seller directly<\/a>\u00a0to provide your correct address. For most third-party sellers, this will likely involve requesting a cancellation and placing another order to your preferred address.<\/p>\n

      However, once an Amazon package has shipped, you cannot update the <\/span>original <\/span>address <\/span>for your order. If you are unable to update your <\/span>old<\/span> address <\/span>for an order shipped by Amazon or a delivery attempt for an Amazon delivery failed, please refer to their information on<\/span> Undeliverable Packages here<\/span><\/a>. Whether you\u2019re updating an order from Amazon or a third-party seller, you\u2019ll likely need to request a cancellation and order again.<\/span><\/p>\n

      How to Reroute a Royal Mail Package<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Rerouting a package with Royal Mail is also relatively straightforward.\u00a0 <\/span>On the day of delivery, you will receive a notification via email, phone or push notification within the Royal Mail App with more information about when to expect your parcel (this is usually a 3-hour window). This will also notify you if a signature is required for the delivery. Within your notification, there will be a link to the Royal Mail \u2018Track and Trace\u2019 page.<\/p>\n

      2. Enter the item barcode and delivery postcode.<\/li>\n
      3. Select your preferred delivery option from those which are available and submit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        How to Reroute a DPD Package<\/b><\/h3>\n

        Rerouting a package with DPD is also relatively straightforward. The morning of your delivery, if you have provided a mobile contact number, they will usually text with an estimated time of delivery for that day. To reroute, you simply click on the link within the text which will take you to a number of options, including \u2018Deliver to a neighbour\u2019 \u2018Deliver to a safe space\u2019 \u2018Change the delivery day\u2019.<\/p>\n

        DPD are unable to change the delivery address, however, they are able to reroute your package to a local pickup shop, or <\/span>parcel locker<\/span><\/a> where it will be available to pick up by midday the following day. If you need to change the <\/span>delivery <\/span>instructions<\/span> for the parcel to an entirely new address, you will need to contact the sender.<\/span><\/p>\n

        How to Reroute an Evri Package<\/b><\/h3>\n

        Diverting a parcel with Evri is a simple process. If you have a package that is due to be delivered, Evri gives you the opportunity to add information for the driver about where you would like them to deliver your parcel to instead \u2013 for example, a neighbour, a \u2018safe place\u2019, or a local <\/span>electronic locker<\/span><\/a> hub. Please note, if your sender has requested a household signature, Evri will be unable to divert your parcel.<\/span><\/p>\n

        To divert your package, first, go to Evri\u2019s parcel tracking page<\/a>.<\/p>\n
