2018 Holiday Shopping Season Trend Predictions for Retailers
1. Tis’ the season of spending: The National Retail Federation expects 2018 retail sales to increase at a minimum of 4.5 percent over 2017. Additionally, PwC’s 2018 Holiday Outlook report notes that the majority of consumers (84 percent) will spend the same or more this holiday as they did last year. In fact, these consumers will spend an average of $1,250 each on gifts, travel, and entertainment, which is an increase of 5 percent over last year. 2. Online and mobile will dominate spending. Global holiday e-Commerce revenue is expected to grow 13 percent in 2018 over the previous year, according to data from Salesforce. Mobile phones are expected to account for 46 percent of all orders, compared to 44 percent for desktop computers and 9 percent for tablets.

A study from insuranceQuotes claims that 25.9 million Americans have had a holiday package stolen from their front porch or doorstep—up from 23.5 million porch pirate thefts reported in 2015.
