Making the Workplace More Personal

Ah, work-life balance. It sounds so easy to do but alas we all know that juggling work, family, friends and hobbies can be a challenge.
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, believes that it’s all about integration, “the reality is, if I am happy at home, I come into the office with tremendous energy. And if I am happy at work, I come home with tremendous energy. It actually is a circle; it’s not a balance.”
What many employers don’t realize is the fact that they play a major role in making work-life balance an obtainable goal for their employees, and there are ways they can actually help their employees enjoy a better work-life balance.
While Beer Fridays, endless snacks, casual Friday and bring your dog to work day are great perks, the reality is that employees want their jobs to help make their personal lives and responsibilities easier. They want convenience and this is where corporate amenities like on-site gyms or childcare, digital and on-demand wellness programs, on-site dry-cleaning and laundry and package lockers come into play.
When on-site gyms, dry-cleaning and childcare are provided it helps to save employees valuable time. It also demonstrates to employees that their employers care about their health, well-being and let’s face it sanity especially when it comes to caring for kids while working a part-time or full-time job.
Similarly, electronic package lockers, help to make life easier for employees. Online shopping has skyrocketed and so too has the trend of employees shipping personal packages to work. Over half – 53% of employees nationwide – make online purchases while on the job, and many of them are opting to have their online orders delivered straight to their office/work in order to avoid porch pirates and package theft, along with missed deliveries and having to reschedule.
In fact, 53% of employees nationwide are worried about package theft and many of them have even gone so far as to change their personal plans just so they can be home when their package is scheduled to arrive. In fact, 20% of employees nationwide will leave work early if they are expecting a delivery to ensure they don’t miss it.
Parcel Pending’s commercial locker solutions help to enhance the employee experience by making it quick, easy and convenient for them to retrieve their online orders/packages while at work.
When personal packages are allowed to be delivered to the workplace, it says, “Don’t stress about whether this package is safe and secure.”
