Developers Embrace of Green Buildings Boosts Tenant Satisfaction & Cost-Savings

Are developers turning over a new leaf?
More and more of them are embracing green buildings in an effort to boost energy efficiency and cost savings. On average, green buildings can have utility savings of 20 to 50 percent over traditional buildings1.
But it’s not all just about cost-savings. Builders are also focused on sustainability because consumer demand for green, sustainable products continues to increase. In fact, 78 percent of millennials believe sustainability is important and say they make sustainable choices.
That is why today’s builders have to think beyond just the standard green building certifications. In order to have a competitive advantage, builders need to invest in green, sustainable materials, features and amenities that demonstrate a sincere commitment to the well-being of tenants and the environment.
One such amenity is electronic parcel lockers like those offered by Parcel Pending. There’s been a boom in online shopping and with that comes an increase in overall deliveries including failed deliveries. The fact is that failed first deliveries and their corresponding redeliveries add a significant increase in carbon emissions into the environment. In fact, the chain of returned goods used 4.5 billion liters of fuel and emitted 12 million tons of carbon emissions in the U.S. 20152.
Parcel Pending’s commercial locker solutions help to reduce failed first deliveries. In fact, we recently partnered with The University of Washington’s Urban Freight Lab at the Supply Chain Transportation and Logistics Center (SCTL) to study the effectiveness of parcel lockers in alleviating failed first deliveries in Seattle. According to the study, parcel lockers reduced failed deliveries to zero thereby positively impacting the environment.
In addition to reducing failed first deliveries, our commercial locker solutions also help simplify the package delivery process for tenants and property owners. We take care of logging, retrieving, and distributing tenant packages quickly and effectively with little to no involvement from building or office staff. This saves valuable time and administrative costs.
The way our commercial lockers work is simple. Recipients are instantly notified when they have a delivery by text or email. Once received, the recipient can pick up the package using the unique combination provided in the notification, or by using our intelligent mobile app. Building staff or office managers do not need to sign for packages, sort them, or distribute them to recipients—our commercial lockers handle it all.
Moreover, every person who interacts with the lockers is identified through a unique access code. This process provides transparency every step of the way. Enhanced security, a signature required option, and a delivery and camera log can guarantee building staff, recipients, and couriers peace of mind.
We’re proud that our lockers help commercial properties reduce their carbon footprints while also providing a premium, convenient amenity for their tenants.
